Next Blog issue

I have not personally experienced a problem with this issue as I don't get an opportunity to have a blog that I share with students, but, I have had the question presented to me as to what, if anything, can be done about the Next Blog button that is on the blogger pages. The purpose of this button is to take the user to a random blog which can often be commercial, spam, or pornographic.

It is my understanding that this is a default part of the template and it not to be removed.

Cheers... Bob

Another very pertinent question.
I thought about getting rid of it once, but then never thought about it more, since I couldn't find an easier way to do it within teh blog help files.
Now I decided to do some search and found out a solution.
Go here to find out how it is done: http://blogger-templates.blogspot.com/2005/01/remove-navbar.html
I have just tried and our blog no longer has the navbar. YES! :-)

I also found some tips here ( http://labnol.blogspot.com/2007/01/how-to-hide-blogger-navbar-in-new.html ), and that was actually the code I ended up using.

Very interesting... thanks for updating the infomation I had ... isn't collaborative work and brainpower sharing wonderful. Yet another reason to have this type of blog structure for a classroom.

I note that the entire nav-bar is gone. I should look, but perhaps I'll just ask... is there no option to leave the search box? I have found that useful when searching for an older entry on a site.

Okay, so I got home and just now took a look at the link in Cristina's first comment. As it turns out, this was the process / link I had looked at some time ago which raised the question of the legality of doing such a thing ... legality in the sense of Blogger's terms of service, which do seem, from the discussion, to be a bit vague. There is some reference to the free blogs as having the nav bar fixed and unmodifiable. In any case, I think I'll keep mine - since I prefer to have the search tool available.

Cheers... Bob

When you remove the nav bar you also lose the 'New Post, Customize, Sign Out' part, which I find handy.

Dear Bob,

Thanks for point that out.
Alos, apparently you weren't the only one that wanted to get rid of Nav bar , but keep the search box. I found this blog post on how this same topic...using google search of course! http://caucusconner.blogspot.com/2007/11/remove-blogger-navbar-add-search-box.html

Dear Claire,
indeed you get something but you will have to let go of others.

I have just put the nav bar back!
